OnCrew Review (2026): Per-Call AI Receptionist for Small Trade Shops

The lowest-priced trade-focused AI receptionist we've found, priced per answered call. Here's every plan limit and what a storm month costs.

How this page works: Facts and prices come from each vendor's public website (and are labeled when they come from third-party reports), checked October 2026. Prices change, so verify on the vendor's site before buying. We have not hands-on tested these tools yet; any ranking reflects our editorial read of published features and pricing. What OnCrew is

OnCrew (oncrew.ai) is an AI receptionist for HVAC, plumbing, electrical and roofing contractors running one to fifteen trucks. It picks up in two rings, takes the problem and address, texts the on-call tech if it's urgent, and emails you the recording and summary. The AI receptionist is named "Sarah" by default.

Its pricing is per answered call, not per minute, which makes long, chatty calls cost the same as short ones.

What your month costs

Illustrative math, not data: example call counts only. OnCrew publishes the break-evens: past 201 answered calls Pro is cheaper than Starter plus overage; past 602, Multi-Truck is cheaper than Pro.
Answered calls / monthCheapest planCost
60 (nights & weekends only)Starter$49
150Starter$49 + 50 × $0.99 = $98.50
300Pro$149
700Multi-Truck$349 (Pro would be $149 + 300 × $0.99 = $446)
1,000 (storm month)Multi-Truck$349 (Pro would be $743)

OnCrew says plan changes take effect immediately, so you can move up before a forecast storm and back down after.

How it handles calls

Phone systems it works with

OnCrew lists forwarding from cell carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile), landlines (Verizon, AT&T, Spectrum, CenturyLink) and office/VoIP systems including Verizon One Talk, Nextiva, 8x8, Dialpad, Ooma Office, GoTo Connect, Grasshopper, Zoom Phone, Comcast Business Voice, RingCentral, Google Voice and Vonage. You can also take a new local number from OnCrew.

  • Spanish included at no extra charge
  • Text alerts and announced live transfers to on-call techs
  • Long, no-card trial with an automatic extension if call volume was low

Cons / watch-outs

  • $0.99/call overage adds up if you forward your whole day on Starter
  • Alert texts are capped per plan
  • No published native Jobber, Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan booking (Pro offers 'workflow handoff setup')
  • Newer company (its call counter starts in May 2026)

Buy it if: you're an owner-operator or small crew, you want nights and weekends covered cheaply, or you serve Spanish-speaking customers.

Skip it if: you need jobs booked straight into Jobber (see Wakeman or Jobber's own Receptionist), or you want a long-established vendor.
